Words are simply inadequate to express our appreciation for the love and care shown our parents, Paul & Violet, while they were both at South Haven.

Violet had lived in Alden for 15 months before passing away in March. Many of you also got to know our Dad during his visits and have commented on how encouraging it was to see their loved and affection after 70 years of marriage! After a brief hospital stay, Paul came to South Haven and resided in Lakemont for 4 months before he passed away in July, rejoing his beloved wife.

The care and compassion that all of you exhibit is humbling! It takes a large, multi-talented staff to provide all of the services necessary to care for your residents. We always found comfort in knowing that Mom and Dad were receiving the absolute best care possible by such an amazing staff! Thank You!

Do you dream of stress-free living in an atmosphere of helpful, loving friends? South Haven Cottages is the answer. You can just set back and enjoy the lovely cottage and not have to worry about any outside work like shoveling snow, lawn mowing, planting etc., as it is all done for you. If you want, you will have a spot in the front and in the back by your own patio where you can plant and do your own little gardening.

If you like shopping, movies, concerts, all you have to do is call your cottage coordinator and she will arrange everything from lining up who wants to go, getting the tickets, and taking you there. Of course, we always allow enough time to have a meal along the way, Yea! Birthday’s, we all get together and go to the favorite café of the days’ celebrating and have a chow down and maybe a little gossip.

If all this fits in with your retirement dreams, stop in at South Haven and they will be happy to show you one of the brand new cottages. Hope to welcome you to our little community soon!

To All at South Haven

I would like to thank all of the cooks and ladies who helped with family meals. I also would like to thank the nurses at the desk and those who took care of my medications. Also all those faithful workers who helped with getting me dressed and getting me to bed, etc. Thanks to Tam who helped me to walk again and get me on my feet. Thanks also to those also who took us to the Chapel and Holy Communion on Sunday and Holy Mass on Thursdays. Also Sarah and Becky for my baths. Thank you all for my dining room family with whom I had my meals and the ladies who cleaned the tables after our meals. Also Brandi the lady in the beauty shop! I leave you now to go back to my home after 6 months. What a blessing you are!

We cannot express enough how grateful we are for the care you gave to Mom while she was at South Haven. We had such peace of mind knowing she was getting the best care possible. Again, thank you!

I have been at South Haven many times; it's the BEST place to be if you can't be at home. Everyone is so helpful and caring. The rooms are cheery, lighting is good and out my room window I could see the fields, just like at home. I enjoyed the whirlpool baths. The food was very good, and the ice cream is tops, I ate it every day. I enjoyed using the Chapel during my stay as I couldn't go to church at home.

The therapies do a great job, each time they got me back using my walker and walking better so I could return home. I don't call therapy work, it's a great place to get strengthening back, or whatever you need to work on to be your best. I continue to come as an out-patient to keep my strength up.

Everyone says "Good Morning", everyone is so friendly. Each time I have been at South Haven it has meant a lot to me. It's an all-round great place to be and not far from home so my wife could visit me often.

One of our high lights is to attend your community breakfast. It's fun to visit with old friends and staff.

We would recommend South Haven to anyone.

I had read Mr. Vetter's mission statement so when I needed rehab this time I insisted it be a Vetter home. My son went to the ones in Omaha, Elkhorn and Papillion to observe how staff interacted with clients and he agreed that the only place he would be comfortable was a Vetter operated facility.

However none of those facilities had a bed available and it was suggested that the Wahoo facility may have a bed. South Haven did and what a blessing to be here. The grounds, facility and the room was so spacious, so that in itself was refreshing and uplifting. Once I was in the room, the staff began to accommodate me in a very charismatic, uplifting, with smiles and positive attitude. The care and compassion with which I have been treated has all contributed to my speedy recovery. Then there is the team in therapy, they are professional, inject humor, compassion and care while still making sure the client is doing the necessary recovery.

There aren't enough or appropriate words to describe the kindness with which I have been treated at every level. So much so that I believe I have convinced my son that if I need rehab in the future South Haven is certainly my first choice. Thank you all, for taking care of me and truly being the voice, feet, arms and care that the Vetter family wants in the facility.

I was so grateful that Adrian was able to stay at South Haven when I had my complete knee replacement. I came to South Haven 3 days after my operation. We each had a deluxe room across the hall from each other. That was so convenient!!! We could watch TV together. When Adrian wasn’t feeling well, we stayed in his room and ate our meals.

We were so impressed with the friendliness of the staff. It was to visit with people we knew that stayed at South Haven. The food was very good. Had a nice variety. The cleaning ladies and the ladies that did our laundry did a very great job. I was very impressed with therapy department. They were so friendly and helped me so very much. We were able to go home after 5 weeks. We were happy to be able to go to the 9am Thursday morning masses and to receive communion at the chapel on Sunday mornings. That meant a lot to us.

We would most heartily recommend south Haven to our friends and relatives. It's a great to have such a neat, clean place so close to home. It the need ever arises, we would gladly go back to South Haven.

Coming to South Haven was one of the best choices I ever made. I had been in a larger facility which was nice, but South Haven has a homey feeling. The nursing staff is a very caring group of people who are always there to assist you and help in every way. Office staff also is a very helpful group that are there to answer your questions and make you feel comfortable at all times.

Therapy has been a great benefit for me. When I came to South Haven I had trouble standing alone and was not able to walk on my own. Their positive attitudes and the compliments of any improvements were very, very helpful.

There is always something to keep us busy with activities, games, crafts, music, baking and our special outings. Or just enjoying the outside sunshine and fresh air, talking and laughing with some of the other residents. You do not have time to be bored. The facility is very clean and furnished very nicely. All the people that come into South Haven remark about how clean and homelike it is. I have a great group for my table mates, lots of "remember when" talks, today’s news happenings and a lot of laughter …what more could you ask for?

This may not be where you lived for the last 50 years or so; but South Haven is a great place to call Home if these kinds of needs are needed now.

Come and visit the facility, you will be very surprised and pleased at what you see!

Come and stop in and say hello at my Home, South Haven

Your employees or staff were consistently efficient, friendly, patient, and caring. This was an enormous help in our health situation, both to myself and my family and friends. Thank you. Food, laundry, cleaning, and activities including concerts and your ice cream / popcorn shop were great. The shop helped me to relieve stress and provide patient / guest companionship and make a fun atmosphere needed in low moments. Also, having caged birds in halls and allowing pets for visiting purposes is very good. Lax visitor hours was very helpful also.

We appreciate the hospitality and kindness your staff and residents have shown us over the past few years. Our children enjoy stopping by to feed the ducks and fish and often we find our way in to have a little ice cream. We live just down the street and it’s a nice little walk to take for something to do every now and then.

Here's a little monetary donation – a supply of ice cream or or cones on us or even to do a little something extra for your residents.

Thanks again,

Thanks again,
S. Family
Everyone makes you feel special. The entire staff are so caring and helpful. They sincerely care about you and how you feel.
