Relay For Life Team Raises Funds
“Celebrate, Remember, Fight Back” is the motto for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life events, and South Haven’s team did just that. For the third year in a row South Haven put together a team to participate in the Saunders County Relay for Life. Relay for Life is a worldwide movement to bring an end to cancer. Teams and participants stay up all night to raise awareness and help find a cure for a disease that has taken so much. Saunders County has raised $53,376 as of this time.
South Haven’s Jivin’ for a Cure was able to raise $3,614.95 for the event. The teams fundraising total included a gracious $1000 matching donation from the Vetter Foundation. “Jivin’ for a Cure” had the 5th largest fundraising total for the event. In the past few months, the team put together events to raise money for the Relay. Some fundraisers include T-shirt sales, Raffles, Bake Sales, Car wash, and Pie in the face during National Nursing Home Week. The team consisting of staff and residents had a rowdy presence at the event to show you have to make noise to take action because cancer thrives on silence. Community involvement and Teamwork were very evident throughout the event.
